Pinball: A Graphic History of the Silver Ball by Jon Chad

Hello, Drop Target Fans!

🚨 JON CHAD HAS A NEW PINBALL GRAPHIC NOVEL!!! ðŸš¨

It's called Pinball: A Graphic History of the Silver Ball and it will be out on April 5th, 2022 at bookstores, comic shops, and libraries everywhere!

Pinball: A Graphic History of the Silver Ball

Jon has a special deal going where if you pre-order the book from his local bookstore in California, he will send you an exclusive minicomic, a gocco-printed book plate, and a vinyl sticker for free!

Since Jon and I started our pinball journey together, we thought it would be fun to chat about the creation of his new book, and what we have been up to since we published the Drop Target Omnibus back in 2018. Our hour-long conversation covers topics such as: how this book came about, the challenges of drawing (and coloring) pinball machines, and some process "pro tips" for other cartoonists about how to efficiently use InDesign and Clip Studio Paint to create a graphic novel on a deadline.

"Arcade" music by Andy Hentz!

Please help us spread the word about Jon's new book! Order an extra copy for one of your pinball pals, or get a few extras for giveaways at your next pinball tournament. Together we can make Pinball: A Graphic History of the Silver Ball the "Grand Champ" of pinball books ðŸ˜Ž

Coin-Op Carnival #1

There is a new pinball zine on the scene, and we wanted to let you know all about it!  If you liked Drop Target Zine (or the Omnibus) then you are definitely going to like Coin-Op Carnival.  Issue #1 just came out and it was put together by multi-issue DTZ contributor Ryan Claytor and his pinball pal Nick Baldridge.

The first issue is 64 pages, with full color illustrations throughout. It's got interviews, game reviews, tech insights and more, all focused on electro-mechanical machines, all for just $15.  You can read more about it, and see sample spreads in this email blast that went out earlier this week, or you may be able to pick up a copy in person at one of the upcoming events that Ryan and Nick will be speaking at, to promote the new book:

There are another three issues planned, so this is definitely a pinball publication to keep your eyes on!

The Drop Target Omnibus is now available for international ordering!

Good news!  The Drop Target Omnibus has propagated in the book distribution system that we used.  This means that it can now be ordered internationally!  It is a print-on-demand book, so it should be printed and shipped locally, making it more accessible for our pinball friends abroad!

International Ordering:

Please Note: these are the only countries we know of that are carrying the book, but there may be more!  Check your country's Amazon.com website and search for "Drop Target Omnibus" to see if it is available.

Skill Shot Pincast Interview!

Jon and I were recently interview by Kayla Greet and Graham Klym for Episode #61 of the Skill Shot Pincast!  We talk a lot about the Drop Target Omnibus and even allude to some of our plans for future projects....  This was a ton of fun to record, and we hope you'll enjoy listening to it.  There are a few technical glitches with the recording early on, so hang in there!
